Everton don’t have a settled number nine at the moment, with Thierno Barry and Beto struggling to make the grade.
Everton shelled out £30m for the signature of Thierno Barry from Villarreal in the summer, but so far, the young Frenchman has been quite unconvincing.
Beto seems to be the favoured striker, but he’s often quite profligate, and his hold-up play needs improvement.
So with that said, Alan Myers has now suggested a Toffees midfielder should be trialled as a centre-forward.

Alan Myers says David Moyes should trial Carlos Alcaraz as a striker
Everton News columnist Alan Myers has admitted Moyes has a real ‘conundrum’ up front at the moment and so he’s suggested that Carlos Alcaraz should be given a go as a centre-forward.
“It’s a conundrum for Moyes, does he try something different? Maybe Carlos Alcaraz as a main attacker and risk sapping the little confidence his strikers have, or is there a point where he simply has to change it?
“One thing is for sure, the need for another front man, whether that be a 20 goals a season man – which are scarce in January windows – or an alternative option from the bench, it’s clear the recruitment team will need to do something in the transfer market.”

Transfermarkt
The Argentine has played a striker nine times, seven times with Southampton and twice with Racing Club as a teenager.
Alcaraz stands at 6ft tall and is very athletic, so he certainly has the physical attributes to operate in that role.
You only have to look at his superb header away at Newcastle United last season to recognise he is capable in the final third.
