UPDATE: Eagles center Cam Jurgens suffered a knee injury in the second quarter of the Eagles’ 28-22 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday and never came back into the game.
Eagles backup center Brett Toth said after the game that Jurgens will get an MRI on his knee. Jurgens played one series with a brace on.
MINNEAPOLIS — Eagles center Cam Jurgens is questionable to return after suffering a knee injury in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Jurgens was examined for injury in the blue medical tent during the first quarter, but he returned on the next drive. On the Eagles’ first possession of the second quarter, Jurgens left the game and was replaced by veteran backup Brett Toth.
Jurgens was seen standing on the sidelines without a helmet. Leaving after one drive is not a good sign for his chances of returning.
Toth started their Week 6 loss to the New York Giants at left guard in place of Landon Dickerson. He is a huge downgrade from Jurgens. The Eagles have punted on two consecutive drives since Jurgens left.
Rookie center Drew Kendall was made inactive for today’s game. Perhaps the Eagles could move Dickerson to center if Toth struggles badly.
Edge rusher Azeez Ojulari (hamstring) and linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. (ankle) are questionable to return as well.
Now, the Eagles are super thin at edge rusher. Rookie linebacker Jihaad Campbell has moved over to the edge, and Nakobe Dean has taken over for Campbell at off-ball linebacker.
