**In light of Fulkrug’s injury, West Ham United have enlarged their striker hunt and have been identifying targets ahead of the January transfer window, and there is a controversial name in the frame.**
The latest name to be mentioned is Joshua Zirkzee who currently is unable to get game time at Manchester United, and has been struggling for minutes since the arrival of Benjamin Sesko.
Fabrizio Romano, via [GIVEMESPORT](https://www.bing.com/search?q=ZIRKZEE%20WEST%20HAM&pc=0P453&ptag=C999A306D33CF4D&form=PCF444&conlogo=CT3210127) has confirmed that the Hammers do hold true interest and that this rumour does walk and not just talk, however, with that being said, there are numerous other clubs that do hold interest in the Dutch forward.
Zirkzee is currently unhappy with the amount of game time he is receiving at Manchester United, and at this moment in time, is pushing a move away from the Red Devils.
Being recognised as a significant transfer after his £36.5m deal to join Manchester United last summer, he would score on his Premier League debut in a 1-0 win against Fulham, however, he would go on to make a further 48 appearances in all competitions, scoring just seven goals and achieving three assists.
Whilst a 10 G/A campaign isn’t to be overlooked, if we focus on his Premier League season, he’d make 32 appearances scoring three goals and achieving a sole assist, albeit, he would only start 14 of those.
Very quickly it was apparent that Ruben Amorim wasn’t keen on the Dutchman and Hojlund, who since has now moved to and is on fire at Napoli. Zirkzee’s primary reason for wanting a move away is so he’s able to elevate his chances in achieving a 2026 World Cup place, that would require him to move away in January and also be successful to the club he’d move too.
West Ham now have primarily interest in two strikers, those being Zirkzee himself, as well as Ivan Toney and the pair of them are both fighting for a World Cup squad placement, if both deals were possible to be achieved and given the history of the pair, who would you rather?
Ivan Toney is said to be wanting a move and if a deal can be concluded with Saudi Arabia then why would the Hammers hunt for Zirkzee…
Besides, we all know the tumbling road that West Ham would have to face to conclude a deal with Manchester United, just think back to the Wan Bissaka deal, or the potential deals that nearly transpired, such as McTominay or Harry Maguire
