**Manchester City duo Rodri and Abdukodir Khusanov were not involved in team training ahead of the Champions League clash with Villarreal on Tuesday.**
Rodri is currently sidelined with a muscle problem – the latest injury setback for the midfielder following his ACL injury last season.
Khusanov, meanwhile, has been out since going off in the draw with Arsenal last month.
But Rayan Air-Nouri was again involved in training ahead of a possible return to action.
The defender has not played since August but is closing in on returning.
Speaking after Man City’s win over Everton on Saturday, [Guardiola said he did not expect Rodri to return this week](https://hayters.com/guardiola-reveals-blow-ahead-of-villarreal-clash/amp/).
“I don’t think so,” he responded when asked if he could be back for Villarreal.
“Villarreal, then Aston Villa, I don’t think so.
“It’s not long but it’s muscular and we have to be careful.
“I said many times we try not to re-injure (Rodri) but we have not been able to do that so that’s why.
“We will see. Step by step.”
Nico O’Reilly also trained after going off with a knock against Everton.
