'Everything he does is just negative': Nicol launches attack on 'petrified' Liverpool star after United defeat

Many of Liverpool’s stars let themselves down massively against Manchester United.

Reds fans are starting to get a little worried right now, and for good reason too, with their club now on a run of four successive losses.

Losing to Man United is also the worst possible scenario, with some big changes needed if they want to keep their hopes of retaining the title alive.

Arne Slot certainly has a few decisions to make, to say the least, with one of them being who he must bench ahead of their upcoming fixtures.

Former Liverpool player Steve Nicol seems to think there is an obvious candidate, with the Scotsman launching an attack on one ‘petrified’ star, and not for the first time.

Steve Nicol slams Milos Kerkez for his Man United performance

One of the big changes has come in both full-back areas, with Milos Kerkez coming in at left-back being a huge talking point this season.

It is safe to say that the Hungarian has struggled to adapt to life at Liverpool so far, with his inconsistent performances being one of the reasons they are struggling so much.

He had another poor game against Man United too, with Bryan Mbuemo getting the better of him on almost every occasion, which is why they kept attacking down that side.

After weeks of criticising the left-back, Nicol appears to have seen enough, with the ex-Red launching an attack on Kerkez and believing that he looks out of place.

“Kerkez at left-back just looks scared,” Nicol told ESPN FC.

“Everything he does is just negative, every time he gets the ball he goes backwards and every time someone runs at him he looks petrified.

“As a unit, this Liverpool side just don’t play as one. They have not played as a team all season.”

Milos Kerkez needs a spell out of the team

What everyone needs to remember is that Kerkez is still only 21 years old and he has a lot to learn, meaning that he is not even close to being the finished article.

Coming to Liverpool is also a huge step up from Bournemouth, so the pressure on his shoulders must be immense.

Of course, this is something he needs to deal with, but he has time on his side, although now might be a good time to give him a spell out of the team.

Taking him out of the firing line and allowing him to observe from the sidelines might help him with his development, especially as he will be watching the experienced Andy Robertson play.

It is not a time to panic as it will fall into place eventually, Kerkez just needs to regain his confidence, meaning less game time for a while might enable him to find this.
