The FC Barcelona Sporting Department was able to conclude one of its most dragged on operations in recent times, a few days ago, when the midfielder Frenkie de Jong finally put pen to paper for a renewal that will keep him at the Catalan club till 2029.
With this operation, the Blaugrana club has met one of its most important short-term objectives, but work on renewals is still far from complete.
After Frenkie, the Catalans have marked the defender Eric Garcia as the next player whom they want to renew, as his contract is ending in 2026, and both the coaching and the sporting department see him as a very important player.
Meanwhile, according to SPORT, FC Barcelona have another player in mind whose contract they want to renew after Garcia, i.e., Ferran Torres. The Valencian forward, nicknamed ‘Shark‘, is under contract until 2027, but the Catalan club considers his extension an important next step in their squad planning.

Both parties have already expressed their willingness to continue working together. Ferran Torres is happy at the club and wants to stay, while Barcelona view him as a strategic asset whose performances and consistency have improved notably in recent seasons.
The coaching staff also values his versatility in attack, as he can operate effectively on the wings or through the middle as a centre-forward.
Within the Catalan club, Ferran is seen as a long-term option to take on greater attacking responsibility in the future, potentially competing with the player who will eventually succeed Robert Lewandowski as Barcelona’s main striker.
With Frenkie de Jong’s renewal complete and Eric Garcia’s extension nearing, Ferran Torres is expected to become the next major focus for Deco and his sporting team as they continue strengthening Barcelona’s core for the coming years.
