Ruben Amorim celebrating at Anfield as Manchester United beat Liverpool
Ruben Amorim heaped praise on Harry Maguire, Senne Lammens and Amad following Manchester United's shock triumph over champions Liverpool.
Amorim secured consecutive Premier League victories for the first time since taking charge at United, claiming success on Merseyside courtesy of a late header from Maguire to send the Red Devils faithful into ecstasy.
Bryan Mbeumo broke the deadlock inside two minutes to give the visitors an early advantage. Liverpool pressed relentlessly for an equaliser and eventually found their reward through Cody Gakpo in the 78th minute.
Gakpo had rattled the woodwork three times before finally finding the target. The atmosphere at Anfield intensified as the home crowd sensed a potential late winner, but it was United who struck next to secure an away triumph at Anfield for the first time since 2016.
Maguire powered a header past Giorgi Mamardashvili and earned acclaim from his manager during his post-match media briefing. "It is really important and we have a club that has a lot of pressure," said Amorim regarding the defender's mental resilience, reports the Manchester Evening News.

"It's not easy to play here, but all of them have an opportunity to play for us and then they leave and life is like that. Harry Maguire is really important for us and was today. He is a great example, everything he has been through, a great example of every kid."
Maguire was restored to the starting lineup against Liverpool - with Leny Yoro relegated to the substitutes' bench - having been omitted against Sunderland prior to the international interval.

Lammens followed up an assured debut against the Black Cats with crucial stops at Anfield. "He was really important and then sometimes it is a little bit of luck. Two shots on the post, that can change the narrative but he show a lot of character, a lot of quality," Amorim expressed.
When asked about Amad, Amorim responded: "Amad is doing so well in that position [right wing-back], he was perfect for that position. He was upset when I made the sub, but he had a yellow card, if not he will continue in the game, he struggled these weeks but we are here for him."
