Details have emerged of the contract Sean Dyche is expected to sign as Nottingham Forest’s new head coach.
The 54-year-old is set to become the Reds’ third managerial appointment of the season. He is in line to replace Ange Postecoglou, who was axed on Saturday within minutes of Forest’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea.
Dyche emerged as a potential candidate for the City Ground role during the international break. At the time, owner Evangelos Marinakis was considering his options as he weighed up whether to dismiss Postecoglou.
An eighth game without a win at the weekend proved to be the final straw for Postecoglou. And now Dyche is close to being announced as the 60-year-old’s replacement.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Dyche will sign a deal to keep him at the club until 2027. Romano posted on X: “Sean Dyche, set to sign contract until June 2027 at Nottingham Forest. Verbal agreement in place between parties with former Everton manager ready for PL return.”
Forest did consider other names. Fulham’s Marco Silva is admired by Marinakis but compensation would be required to get him, and the Reds are mindful of falling foul of financial rules.
Talks were reportedly held with former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini but they came to nothing. Instead, it is former Reds youth player Dyche expected to take up the hot seat.

If all goes to plan, Dyche’s first game in charge will be Thursday night’s Europa League clash at home to Porto. He will then quickly have a trip to the south coast to prepare for, with the Reds away to Bournemouth on Sunday.
Postecoglou’s tenure as Forest head coach was brought to an end after just 39 days. He had replaced Nuno Espirito Santo on September 9 and was axed on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds have not won in any competition since the opening day of the season, when Nuno was still in the dugout for a 3-1 victory over Brentford. They are 18th in the Premier League table with five points from their opening eight games.
Dyche has been out of work since leaving Everton in January. Ex-Reds Ian Woan and Steve Stone have long been part of his coaching staff and are likely to join him Trentside.
