Former Burnley boss Sean Dyche has agreed to take over at Nottingham Forest, according to multiple reports. At one time Dyche was linked with the [West Ham](https://www.claretandhugh.info/under-pressure-dyche-gets-a-dose-of-the-lopetegui-treatment/) role in the managerial merry-go round that has dogged both West Ham and the Tricky Trees in recent months.
Not the most expansive or appealing football, perhaps, is heading Forest fans’ way now that Dyche has ‘[verbally agreed’](https://www.burnleyexpress.net/sport/football/ex-burnley-boss-sean-dyche-verbally-agrees-to-take-over-at-nottingham-forest-5366204) to take the Nottingham Forest role. It’ll certainly not be pretty viewing with the gruff former Burnley manager rarely setting the world on fire with his own performances in front of the cameras at press conferences.
But perhaps this is what Forest need: Dyche was linked with the West Ham job and considered something of a Sam Allardyce-type street fighter who’d be perfect for a rescue mission at the City ground.
Nottingham Forest are a shadow of the side that qualified for Europe

He’d also be one of the least likely to succeed by all accounts. Incredible to think that just a few short weeks go Nuno Espírito Santo was at the helm of a ‘Forest side who’d qualified for Europe last season whilst the Irons were staring down the barrel of a Graham Potter – led slide down the league. A month is a long time in football!
As Jarrod Bowen commented on the club web site just this morning, two or three good results and everything fades into the distance.
Whilst there’s no revelling in Nottingham Forest’s self-inflicted woes or terrible league form, it is beneficial for West Ham should Forest’s poor league form continue: The more clubs that are sucked into a battle for the bottom few spaces, the better the Hammers’ chance of escaping rather than being cast adrift as part of a forlorn bottom three.
