Former All-Star LeBron James teammate gets honest about historic record

21-time All-Star Los Angeles Lakers power forward LeBron James can't stop setting new NBA records, as he embarks on his 23rd NBA season.

His one-time Cleveland Cavaliers colleague Antawn Jamison — himself a two-time All-Star during his pre-Cleveland prime — reflected to league insider Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson about James' historic recent feat of becoming the first player to ever notch 10,000 or more points, 10,000 or more rebounds, and 10,000 or more assists over the course of his long career.

“You think about a record like that, when I was playing we all thought Karl Malone had a chance,” Jamison, reflecting on the elite players of his time who might have approached the mark.

So what about two other fairly durable recent Hall of Fame wings? Why haven't they done the previously unthinkable and notched 10,000/10,000/10,000 runs of their own?

“Of course, Mike [Michael Jordan] retired too early, Kobe [Bryant] was the only one that came close to it,” Jamison posited.

James and Jamison overlapped in Cleveland for the end of one frustrating season. Jamison was acquired in a six-team midseason trade, circa February 2010. After a second-round playoff upset loss, James departed for the Miami Heat in unrestricted free agency.

Later, Jamison spent the 2012-13 season with the Los Angeles Lakers, and notched his last year with the gang, 2013-14, plying his trade for the LA Clippers.

Across 1,083 career regular season contests, Jamison averaged a solid 18.5 points on .451/.346/.724 shooting splits, 7.5 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 0.6 blocks.

James, 40, is about to begun his record-extending 23rd season in the league. And now, the four-time MVP is not only already hurt, he's exploring bizarre marketing tasks, as when he announced he'd be making a "Second Decision" regarding his future.

Instead, James' "The Second Decision" spots were promoting a tie-in with Hennessy. While Robinson opines that James should have taken the opportunity of announcing another, more meaningful "Decision" with his platform.
