Daniels, Young, Penix among injured in NFL's Week 7

Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Quarterbacks Jayden Daniels, Bryce Young and Michael Penix Jr. were among the NFL players who were hurt in Week 7 of the 2025 NFL season.

Darren Waller, Cole Kmet and Sauce Gardner were among other notable players injured in Sunday's slate. They will be evaluated this week to determine the extent of their issues and potential timelines for return.

Daniels sustained a hamstring injury in the third quarter of the Washington Commanders' 44-22 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday in Arlington, Texas. He did not return.

Daniels completed 12 of 22 passes for 156 yards and a score. He also ran for 35 yards and a touchdown in the loss. Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota completed 4 of 10 passes for 63 yards and an interception in relief of Daniels. He also ran for 34 yards.

Commanders coach Dan Quinn told reporters at his postgame news conference that Daniels wanted to return, but was held out. He was to undergo an MRI on Monday.

Josh Johnson is the only other quarterback on the Commanders' roster. He was inactive Sunday, when he served as the emergency third-string quarterback. Sam Hartman is the Commanders' practice squad quarterback.

The Commanders also lost defensive end Dorance Armstrong to a knee injury. He was ruled out in the first quarter.

The Commanders (3-4) will play the Kansas City Chiefs (4-3) in Week 8.

The Chiefs lost guard Trey Smith and offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor to respective back and shoulder injuries during their 31-0 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott exited early because of a knee injury.

Raiders Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby departed with a left knee injury. Crosby, who totaled four sacks so far this season, logged three combined tackles. Raiders coach Pete Carroll said Crosby had been dealing with a sore knee and was pulled out of the game.

A source told NFL Network that Crosby is expected to be OK.

Raiders defensive tackle Adam Butler sustained a back injury during pregame warm-ups Sunday in Kansas City, Mo. The Raiders are on bye in Week 8.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young hurt his right ankle and was ruled out during a 13-6 win over the New York Jets. He completed 15 of 25 passes for 138 yards and a score before his exit.

Panthers backup Andy Dalton completed 4 of 7 passes for 60 yards in relief of Young. He is the only other quarterback on the Panthers roster. Hendon Hooker is the Panthers' practice squad quarterback.

Panthers coach Dave Canales said Young was injured while trying to avoid a sack.

Jets All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner and running back Kene Nwangwu sustained concussions. Defensive tackle Jay Tufele hurt a knee.

The Jets (0-7) will play the Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) on Sunday in Cincinnati. The Panthers (4-3) will host the Buffalo Bills (4-2) in Week 8.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. told reporters he hurt his ankle during a 20-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in Santa Clara, Calif. Penix, who stayed in the game, completed 21 of 38 passes for 241 yards and a score in the loss.

Falcons linebacker Divine Deablo sustained a forearm injury and exited early. Cornerback Renardo Green (toe) and center Jake Brendel (hamstring) were among the 49ers players injured.

The 49ers (5-2) will take on the Houston Texans (2-3) in Week 8. The Falcons (3-3) will host the Miami Dolphins (1-6).

Dolphins tight end Darren Waller sustained a pectoral injury in a 31-6 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday in Cleveland. Waller, who was ruled out in the second half, did not log a catch.

Browns defensive end Adin Huntington sustained a concussion.

The Chicago Bears lost tight end Cole Kmet and defensive back Tyrique Stevenson to respective back and shoulder injuries during a 26-14 win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday in Chicago.

Saints running back Kendre Miller (knee) and center Erik McCoy (biceps) also were ruled out.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks sustained a calf injury during a 27-23 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday in Glendale, Ariz. He logged one catch for 5 yards before his exit.

Philadelphia Eagles center Cam Jurgens (knee) linebackers Jeremiah Trotter Jr. (ankle), and Azeez Ojulari (hamstring) and cornerback Adoree' Jackson (concussion) were all injured during a 28-22 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday in Minneapolis.

Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons and cornerback L'Jarius Sneed sustained respective hamstring and quad injuries in Week 7.

New York Giants safety Jevon Holland (knee), Los Angeles Chargers defensive lineman Otito Ogbonnia (elbow) and Jacksonville Jaguars safety Eric Murray were among the other players injured in Week 7.

A duo of primetime matchups will wrap up the Week 7 slate. The Detroit Lions (4-2) will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-1) in the first game at 7 p.m. EDT Monday in Detroit.

The Seattle Seahawks (4-2) will host the Texans at 10 p.m. in Seattle.
