Mike McDaniel leads the list of NFL coaches on the hot seat

The Dolphins coach is far from the only one who should be worried about his job status after a slow start to the season.

This young NFL season has already produced improbable results and unforeseen circumstances. However, there is little surprise when it comes to coaches on the hot seat.

Brian Callahan, who was always an odd hire in Tennessee (then again, that’s an odd and incompetent ownership group), entered the season the face of an utterly noncompetitive football outfit, and he barely made it to his second October with the Titans before his firing. And, as we also chronicled throughout the summer, Miami Dolphins Coach Mike McDaniel was already on borrowed time throughout a tumultuous offseason. The combination of horrid play and bizarre comments from the quarterback he and Miami’s front office made among the highest-paid in the game has made it likely that he will be relieved of his duties early this week.
