The Minnesota Vikings fell 28–22 to the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles in Week 7, and cornerback Isaiah Rodgers quickly became a target on Instagram, which nobody expected to happen. After giving up two deep completions, Rodgers faced intense criticism. But one fan literally crossed every single line.

Rodgers posted screenshots of vulgar Instagram DMs he received after the game. The most shocking message from the series of texts read, “You’re worse than Hitler.” The post has since turned viral online; probably some Vikings fans are already looking for his head.

However, the NFL star didn’t just share the sick fan’s one single text. He exposed a series of hateful DMs from the same fan. The messages included lines like “You just gave the Eagles the win,” “Should’ve never picked you up,” and “Worthless piece of st.” The fan dropped back-to-back F-bombs, blaming Rodgers for the loss.

You guys can criticize all you want. But don’t ever do this. If you ever do this. You simply aren’t a fan. You’re an awful human being. Period. pic.twitter.com/IXUDCbCeM0

After Rodgers posted the screenshots, the fan realized he’d gone too far. He messaged back: “I’m sorry. I know what I did was wrong…” Rodgers didn’t respond publicly to the apology, but the incident led to a wave of support because hate is ok, but doing such a thing in the DM is not a fan’s job.
This kind of harassment isn’t new. NFL players often deal with abusive messages when they don’t meet expectations. But Rodgers proved he is absolutely different because he didn’t hide. He exposed the hate and let the world see what athletes endure behind the scenes every Sunday.

Rodgers shared everything on his Instagram story just hours after the upset. It was raw, honest, and powerful. And it connected with fans who know the pressure these players face every week.
But Rodgers Owns His Mistakes from the Game, Vows to Bounce Back
In the locker room after the loss, Rodgers didn’t deflect. He took full responsibility.
“I put it on me,” he said. “I’ve got the whole team on my back. I just gotta make those plays … I came here for a reason,” he said to the reporters.
Rodgers also made it clear the Vikings need to move forward. “Hey, it all depends on how we respond on Thursday night. … Turn the page.”

Probably those two deep completions, one to DeVonta Smith for a 79-yard touchdown and another to A.J. Brown on a critical third down, would not let him sleep silently for some nights. So, it is easy to feel why he took the responsibility of the loss on his back.

But the good thing is, he didn’t let the noise shake him. Otherwise, he didn’t dare to share those abusive DMs with the public.
