In the wake of a frustrating afternoon at Burnley on Saturday afternoon the inquest into what went wrong for Leeds United started very quickly.

The Whites failed to find the back of the net against a stubborn opponent, but also struggled to break down one of the teams who are expected to be scrapping in the lower reaches of the table for survival this season.

That fact left many Leeds supporters concerned, while those of the glass half full persuasion were keen to focus on the number of chances Daniel Farke's side orchestrated at Turf Moor.

Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast, Leeds-born defender Micah Richards was quick to praise the Whites, who he believes played well in defeat. But it is a point made by Alan Shearer which really reinforces the true frustration surrounding the game against Scott Parker's men.

As the conversation turned to the match at Turf Moor, Gary Lineker said; “A word on Burnley. You’ve got to make your home games count and Turf Moor is a difficult place to play.”

That statement drew a quick reply from Shearer, who pointed out this; “31% possession they had, at home. Leeds had 17 shots in the box. They had 21 efforts at goal."

For all the celebrating at Burnley for a massive three points for their side, the evidence was clear regarding the missed opportunity for Leeds, who really must start turning opportunities into goals in the cut-throat Premier League.
