Take a look at some of the delightful new dishes on the new autumn/winter menu at a popular Leeds city centre Italian restaurant.
The family-run Italian restaurant group San Carlo has announced a number of new options to their offering. The meals are available in Leeds alongside restaurants in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leicester, Birmingham and Bristol among other locations.
New starters include the salmone affumicato (smoked salmon with shallots, capers, lemon, and Altamura bread) and heritage tomato Salad (marinated tomatoes with goat cheese, black olives, and basil). Alternatively, you can feast on the avocado Bernardo which consists of fresh prawns on a bed of lettuce, wrapped in avocado slices and drenched in creamy Marie Rose sauce. New sides include classic creamy mashed potatoes and mashed potato with truffle.
The new carne selection at San Carlo this winter is the beef cheek and spinach, a rich and indulgent dish featuring tender, slow-cooked beef cheek complemented by a bright and zesty gremolata, alongside a serving of sautéed spinach for a well-balanced plate. For diners who prefer seafood over red meat, guests are invited to try the branzino (cartoccio), a whole sea bass delicately baked in parchment paper, accompanied by tomatoes and olives that enhance its natural freshness.
San Carlo is known for itsItalian pasta dishes. New highlights include San Carlo’s take on the iconic vodka rigatoni, the pipette piccanti, plus the trofie salsiccia and fagioli (trofie pasta with sausage, borlotti beans, tomato sauce, and pecorino) and the cartellate zucca e tartufo (pumpkin and pecorino-stuffed pasta with sage, butter, and truffle). Guests are also invited to try a San Carlo favourite, the ravioli tartufo, a handmade ravioli filled with pecorino cheese and truffle, with a cream, grana padano and truffle oil sauce - topped with truffle.
Marcello Distefano, chief executive officer at San Carlo Group, said: “Our new winter menu is a testament to our ongoing commitment to exceptional quality and authentic Italian cuisine. After a fantastic summer across all our locations, this seasonal launch sets the tone perfectly for the festive period and the start of the Christmas and party season.”
You can relax at the restaurant thanks to a welcoming atmosphere, created by a team of knowledgeable staff, which we experienced when the San Carlo team kindly invited us to sample some of their new offerings at their Leeds city centre venue. On the walls, you will spy lots of famous faces who have visited San Carlo restaurants.
During our visit, we spotted Oasis legend Liam Gallagher framed alongside David Beckham, Strictly Come Dancing stars and current Leeds United player, and Italian international, Willy Gnonto. The latter overlooking our table during our visit to San Carlo in S Parade, Leeds.
