The New York Jets are winless through the first seven weeks of the NFL season, and it's not been due to poor defense. Offensively, the Jets have been one of the worst teams in the NFL, and there's plenty of stats that show just how bad things are.
But following the Jets brutal 13-11 loss to the Denver Broncos, the struggles of Justin Fields and the passing offense led to the Jets having -10 net passing yards. While they were better in Week 7, it wasn't enough to secure a win, as the Carolina Panthers won 13-6.
After the Jets' Week 7 loss, Rich Cimini of ESPN shared a wild statistic that highlights just how bad the offense has been this season. Other than their Week 1 performance, the Jets offense has struggled to get the ball in the endzone.
Jets touchdown statistic highlights how much the offense has struggled this season
"State of the Jets offense: In the last 6 games, the offense has produced 7 TDs." Cimini posted. "0 in the first half. 1 in the 3rd Q (43-yard scramble by Fields vs MIA). 6 in the 4th Q, all with the Jets trailing by at least 13 pts (includes 4 TDs in the last 4 mins)."

The total touchdowns scored is a clear indication of how bad the offense has been this season. Fields and the Jets, across six games, have scored just seven touchdowns. That's nowhere near enough to consistently win in the NFL.
But, what makes this statistic so wild is when those touchdowns occur. Over the last six weeks, the Jets offense hasn't scored an offensive touchdown in the first half. In the third quarter, they've scored just one touchdown.
In the 18 quarters since Week 2, not counting the 4th quarter, the Jets offense has scored just one touchdown. Not only are the Jets barely scoring points, but they aren't putting up touchdowns until late in the game.

But, even when they do score touchdowns, it's only when they are down two scores. All of their 4th quarter touchdowns come when the Jets need more than just a touchdown to tie or take the lead.
Add on that four of those six touchdowns have occurred in the final four minutes of a game, and the Jets offense is scoring only when the game is either out of reach, or the touchdown doesn't give them the lead.
Since Week 2, the Jets offense has scored almost all of their touchdowns in garbage time. Fields and the Jets offense hasn't played well in the last six weeks, but this statistic highlights just how bad the offense has been.
New York needs to figure something out on offense going forward, and while Aaron Glenn isn't shutting down the possibility of a quarterback switch to Tyrod Taylor, something needs to change before long.
