Newcastle United have sacked women’s boss Becky Langley after a poor start to the season.

Newcastle United Women are searching for a new boss after the club ‘parted ways’ with Becky Langley.

In a club statement released on Tuesday evening, the club confirmed Langley, who has been in charge of the side for six years, has left the club.

On Sunday the women played out an entertaining and morale boosting 3-3 draw with top flight Manchester City, but it was not enough to save Langley after a challenging start to the campaign.

Langley leaves the Magpies in ninth in the WSL2 table.

NUFC look to appoint ‘interim’

The club statement confirms the club will look to appoint an interim coach, prior to a permanent replacement coming in.

The club don’t play again in the league until early November. They take on Ipswich Town away in the FA WSL2.

Becky has played a significant role in the club’s rise since being appointed in 2019, achieving back-to-back promotions to take the team from the fourth tier to Women’s Super League 2.

After ending their first season in WSL 2 with a fifth-place finish, Newcastle United Women currently sit ninth in the table after six matches of the current campaign.

Everyone at Newcastle United thanks Becky sincerely for her service to the club and wishes her the very best in her future career.
