Opinion: Tyler Dibling could get his chance for Everton after what Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has…

Tyler Dibling has made just one Premier League start since joining in a whopping £40m deal from Southampton.

The Everton wide player was handed his first league start against Crystal Palace just before the international break but was dragged off at half-time.

Tyler Dibling has had to impress David Moyes in cameo appearances from the substitutes bench, with Iliman Ndiaye preferred on the right wing.

However, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has just said something which could prompt Moyes to give the 19-year-old a bigger role.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could drop deeper allowing Tyler Dibling to start

Dewsbury-Hall has admitted that he actually feels his best position is as a number eight, rather than the number 10 role he’s been playing.

“I can play all positions in midfield, but I’d say my strongest point is probably in box-to-box, number eight,” the 27-year-old told Everton’s website.

So, perhaps Moyes will allow him to operate as a box-to-box midfielder, which frees up the attacking midfield role for Tyler Dibling.

Or, Iliman Ndiaye may move back centrally, and Dibling can go on the right flank, where he’s most commonly played.

Whether these changes happen immediately remains to be seen, but certainly when Idrissa Gana Gueye goes to the Africa Cup of Nations in December, Dewsbury-Hall will probably come deeper.

David Moyes has a plan for Tyler Dibling

Speaking last month, Moyes reiterated that he’s a big fan of Dibling despite not giving him many opportunities.

“We like Tyler a lot, but he’s another one we’ll bring on in time,” the Everton boss explained.

“My first time here I had lots of players I brought in. We took a bit of time with them, we didn’t rush them.

“We’ll just have to accept we’ll bring Tyler on when we’re ready. I thought he kept the ball well and did some good things.”

The Scotsman has been clear that it will take time to build the club back up and players like Dibling won’t be rushed.
