Jayden Daniels injury fantasy news: Commanders star QB could miss time with hamstring injury

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is once again dealing with an injury.

Daniels left their Week 7 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys with a hamstring injury. It was fairly obvious that Daniels was in some discomfort and was quickly ruled out of the game.

Before Daniels sustained this injury, he was having a good fantasy day against the Cowboys (much like every other QB). Daniels was at 156 passing yards with a passing TD, along with 35 rushing yards and another score on the ground.

Keep reading for Daniels' status for Week 8 and any fantasy football fallout.

Will Jayden Daniels miss games due his hamstring injury?

While we are still waiting for results from Daniels' MRI, there are some positive signs we can speculate on. When Daniels first emerged from the blue medical tent, he gave a thumbs up to his mom in the crowd.

Then, after the game, Commanders head coach Dannto go back into the game. Howeve Quinn said that Daniels wanted r, the staff ultimately decided to keep him out because they were trailing by multiple scores.

This isn't to say he won't miss any time, but the news leans more toward the injury not being too serious.

How does this injury affect Jayden Daniels' fantasy value?

While we don't know how severe the injury truly is or how long it might keep Daniels out, this is a difficult stretch to miss.

Daniels has some great matchups coming up, either against other strong offenses or weak defenses. The next four weeks look like this.

Week 8 @KC

Week 9 SEA

Week 10 DET

Week 11 @MIA

Then, in Week 12, the Commanders have theit bye week.

The hope for fantasy managers should be that he misses no more than two weeks and can return against the Lions and Dolphins. If he misses through the bye, it would significantly hurt his overall value for those who drafted Daniels early.

Should I pick up Marcus Mariota?

If Daniels misses time, Marcus Mariota will once again step in as the Commanders' starting QB. Mariota started two games in Week 3 and 4; here is what those games entailed.

Game OPP FAN PTS POSRK

Week 3 LV 20.3 QB6

Week 4 @ATL 17.2 QB17

Mariota was not the worst fantasy QB; in these two games, he rushed for 60 yards combined. I would have a hard time willingly starting him at Kansas City.

However, if Daniels is out against Detroit and/or Miami, Mariota is definitely in play in these weeks, especially in superflex/2QB leagues.

Commanders Week 8 fantasy outlook vs the Chiefs with Marucs Mariota

While the WRs didn't perform badly, it was nothing extraordinary with Maroita as the starter.

Luke McCaffrey was actually the top fantasy WR with Mariota. He ranked as the WR20 in Weeks 3 and 4.

Deebo Samuel Sr. was close behind at WR23, but Terry McLaurin was most impacted by Mariota.

Although McLaurin was injured in Week 4, he was the WR33 in Week 3 with Mariota as the starting QB. McLaurin has missed the last four weeks, so it's unclear if you'll need to worry about him in Week 8.

Zach Ertz saw 7 total targets in the two weeks Mariota was the starter. Depending on the health of the Commanders' WRs, Ertz could be a great option in Week 8.

The Commanders' RB room is a mess right now. In Week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys, who allow 109.5 rushing yards per game, they managed just 67 rushing yards across three RBs.

I wouldn't play any of them in Week 8 unless necessary, regardless of who the starting QB is.
