Julián Araujo joined AFC Bournemouth in August 2024 and missed over 140 days of last season due to an injury. This limited his playing time to 501 minutes from 13 matches.
The Mexico international started in the Cherries’ EFL Cup defeat to Brentford in August, which has been his only appearance of this season.
Earlier this month, Andoni Iraola said he’s not pleased with the right-back’s situation and urged him to not give up at Bournemouth.
The manager’s public message doesn’t seem to have an impact on Araujo if 365Scores in Mexico are to be believed.
They report says the player is seeking a move away from the Premier League club in the winter market. He wants to join a European club where he can feature regularly, to improve his chances of making it for the 2026 World Cup.
It’s claimed Araujo and his entourage have communicated to Bournemouth of his decision to leave in January. Iraola’s side are said to have agreed to analyse the possibility of a loan move in January.
The fullback is willing to take a pay cut as his representatives are looking for a European club.
