Liverpool will face Real Madrid in the Champions League next month

Former Liverpool hero Xabi Alonso has provided an injury update on his Real Madrid team, two weeks away from his return to Anfield.

The Spanish manager, who took on the role at Los Blancos in May, will oversee his side’s outing at his old stomping ground on November 4th.

Liverpool have a win and a loss from their opening two Champions League games so far. They will come up against Eintracht Frankfurt before meeting with Real Madrid.

Arne Slot has injury concerns of his own, including the absence of Alisson Becker, but Madrid’s list is piling up. Alonso is currently faced with six fitness issues, including a hamstring problem for former Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The 15-time European champions have three games before they take on Liverpool, including this week’s Champions League clash with Juventus. Alonso has provided a fresh injury update on his team ahead following their latest La Liga win over Getafe.

Madrid scraped a 1-0 win over Getafe at the weekend, keeping them at the top of the La Liga table. Alonso described the outing as ‘very demanding and complicated’ match.

The visit to the Estadio Coliseum presented Real Madrid with two new injury concerns. Defender David Alaba was forced off at half-time with a reported calf injury, while goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois suffered a blow to his knee after making an important save late on in the game.

Speaking on the fitness worries, Alonso said after the match: “Courtois, I think he is okay. Alaba has felt something… There is no injury, but his calf was getting hard and we didn’t want to take risks. Tomorrow we will look into it more,” (via Diario AS).

Alaba’s fitness doubt has been added to the existing list of doubts at Real Madrid.

Ex-Liverpool man Trent Alexander-Arnold currently injured for Real Madrid

Alexander-Arnold is currently out of action for new club Real Madrid and has missed their last six fixtures with an ongoing hamstring problem. He made his move to the Spanish capital over the summer amid ongoing speculation over his future with Liverpool. Following months of rumours, Madrid announced the arrival of Alexander-Arnold in June.

The right-back has made just five appearances in white so far across all competitions this season, and only three have been starts. Alexander-Arnold suffered his injury setback in the Champions League clash against Marseille and he has been absent since.

Former Liverpool target Dean Huijsen has also been out of action after sustaining a muscular problem while on international duty. However, both defenders could potentially be back for Real Madrid’s clash with Barcelona this weekend, according to a fitness update from Sports Mole.

Real Madrid have won both of their Champions League games so far this season. Los Blancos have come up against Marseille and Kairat Almaty, enjoying a 5-0 win in their most recent clash in Kazakhstan.
