Report: Two former Everton coaches now poised to join forces with Sean Dyche at Nottingham…

Sean Dyche is set to become the new Nottingham Forest boss, and two former Everton colleagues are set to follow.

Nottingham Forest’s bizarre start to the season took another turn with Ange Postecoglou’s sacking on Saturday.

Postecoglou was only appointed to replace Nuno Espirito Santo in September, but has already been axed after 39 days.

Sean Dyche is now set to become the new Forest boss, taking on his first job since leaving Everton in January.

Dyche was axed by The Friedkin Group, and David Moyes was quickly brought in as the new Everton manager.

More than nine months have passed, and Dyche has been forced to wait for his next managerial chance.

Dyche has been seen in the media and on podcasts, but he will now return to the dugout with Forest.

This is an emotional move for Dyche, having started his playing career at Forest, and he isn’t making the move alone.

The Daily Mail report that Dyche will bring former Everton coaches Ian Woan and Steve Stone to the City Ground.

Woan and Stone worked with Dyche at Burnley as well, and the trio will now reunite, having all been out of work since leaving Everton.

Both Woan and Stone enjoyed success with Forest as players and will now return to the club alongside Dyche.

Ian Woan’s personal connection to Everton

Woan hails from nearby Heswall and spent time in the Everton youth ranks early in his playing days.

The move to Everton was an emotional one for Woan, who told The Athletic that the 2023 relegation battle was ‘personal’ for him.

“I’ve been around relegation before, but I think this was more personal as it was Everton,” said Woan.

“It was tough. Different. We were pretty calm and didn’t change, even though we knew the enormity of the game. We got the goal, and I ended up in tears at the end. The fourth official put 10 minutes up, and it was the longest 10 minutes of my life!”

Woan has remained out of work since leaving Everton, but he now looks ready to return to coaching with Dyche.

The pair have their work cut out, just as they did upon arriving at Everton, and they will relish the prospect of two games against the Toffees in December.
