GRAND RAPIDS, MI - The Grand Rapids Downtown Market is planning to welcome Detroit Pistons NBA Champion Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas next month for a tasting event.
Champagne of Champions kicks off on Nov. 20 inside the Downtown Market’s greenhouse on the second floor, 435 Ionia Ave. SW.
From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., guests will enjoy a guided, strolling tasting featuring four premier pours from Cheurlin Champagne, which Thomas owns.
“This exclusive, one-night-only event offers West Michigan a rare chance to connect with an iconic basketball legend while indulging in an elegant evening of exceptional champagne,” said Meghan Dolata, sales and marketing manager with the Grand Rapids Downtown Market.
The November tasting will highlight four of Cheurlin’s premier champagnes: Brut Spéciale, Rosé de Saignée, Célébrité and Le Champion — each personally introduced by Isiah Thomas himself.
The selection of champagne will be accompanied by a curated grazing table featuring artisanal cheeses, charcuterie and gourmet accoutrements.
As guests sip and sample, they will hear the two-time NBA champion share the story of his journey from the courts into the French vineyards of Landreville.
Each $130 ticket includes all champagne tastings, food, tax, gratuity and service charge. Guests must be 21 and over with a valid ID.
Autograph and memorabilia signing will not be permitted at the event; signing of Cheurlin Champagne bottles only is allowed.
