Barcelona suffer new blow as 29-year-old player sent home with illness ahead of Olympiacos game

The start of the 2025-26 season has not really been easy for FC Barcelona as they have had to contend with injuries to several of their important players, including the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Fermin Lopez, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Alejandro Balde, and Joan Garcia.

Although a few players made their return during the last international break, with both Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez featuring prominently in the recent [win over Girona](https://semprebarca.com/pedri-9-0-frenkie-8-5-fc-barcelona-2-1-girona-player-ratings/), the overall situation has not improved much for the German coach. Fresh concerns have now emerged ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash against Olympiacos.

According to [Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20251020/1002553928/nuevo-contratiempo-flick-olympiacos.html), Andreas Christensen was unable to take part in Monday’s training session after suffering from a bout of indigestion.

The Danish defender arrived at the training ground with the rest of the squad but soon returned home after feeling unwell. The club will continue to monitor his condition to determine whether he will be available for the match on Tuesday evening.

Christensen’s situation adds to the long list of absentees that already includes Ferran Torres, Raphinha, Lewandowski, Dani Olmo, Gavi, and Joan Garcia.

With so many players unavailable, Flick once again faces the challenge of reshaping his lineup, particularly in attack, where injuries have been most severe.

Barcelona will be hoping that Christensen can recover in time to feature against the Greek side and help the team get back to winning ways in the Champions League after their painful defeat against PSG.
