KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers have made another trade to supplement the team’s veteran-depleted blueline.

On Monday (Oct. 20), the Blazers acquired 2007-born defenceman Kayd Ruedig from the Portland Winterhawks.

Going to Portland is a second-round selection in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft, previously acquired from Brandon. The Blazers receive a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2027 draft, as well.

Ruedig, from Humboldt, Saskatchewan, has spent his entire WHL career to this point with the Winterhawks, tallying 25 points in 76 games. This season, the right-shot defender has two goals and one assist in 10 games with Portland.
