Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has missed each of his team’s last two games since suffering a hamstring injury in a Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Following back-to-back losses to the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Rams, the Ravens entered their Week 7 bye, giving Jackson some extra time to recover as the team gears up for Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the Chicago Bears.
But when the Ravens took the field for the first practice back from their bye on Monday, Jackson was still not available.
“QB Lamar Jackson remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. The 2-time NFL MVP did not participate in Monday's practice, which was the Ravens' first one since coming off the bye. Jackson hasn't suited up since injuring his hamstring in Kansas City on Sept. 28,” team insider Jamison Hensley of ESPN reported.
Last week, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh suggested that Jackson would be back in action following the team’s Week 7 bye.
"We're going to have healthy players back. Our quarterback's going to be back. That's a big one. Our middle linebacker will be back," Harbaugh said.
The Ravens’ offense has struggled mightily without Jackson on the field over the last two games. With backup quarterback Cooper Rush under center, the team scored a combined 13 points in Weeks 5 and 6.
“Lamar is doing everything he can,” Rush said before the Ravens’ 17-3 loss to the Rams in Week 6. “He’s around, still keeping engaged in the meetings and things like that. [He is] trying to get that body right and get it going.”
The Ravens are 1-5 to start the season, despite entering the year with Super Bowl aspirations.
Through his four appearances, Jackson completed 71.6% percent of his pass attempts for 869 yards, 10 touchdowns and just one interception. The dual-threat superstar also recorded 166 yards and one touchdown in the rushing game.
Jackson’s injury status will be updated as the Ravens move toward Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the Bears.
