Seahawks make multiple defensive moves before Monday Night Football vs. Texans

The Seattle Seahawks will look to stay competitive in a highly competitive NFC West division as they take on the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football.

After both the San Francisco 49ers (5-2) and the Los Angeles Rams (5-2) picked up wins in Week 7, the Seahawks will need a victory of their own to mirror the records of their division rivals.

However, Seattle could be short-handed once again in the defensive secondary, while safety Julian Love (hamstring) and cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee) continue to recover from injuries that have kept them out of action for multiple weeks. The Seahawks made multiple roster moves to add depth to the secondary.

Seahawks elevate CB Shaquill Griffin, S Jerrick Reed II from practice squad for MNF

According to ESPN's Brady Henderson, the Seahawks elevated cornerback Shaquill Griffin and safety Jerrick Reed II off their practice squad to suit up for their Week 7 matchup against the Houston Texans.

Griffin, 30, has bounced around the league in recent years after spending his first four seasons (2017 to 2020) with the Seahawks. Now back for his second stint in Seattle, he will look to help fill the ongoing void in the secondary that has plagued the team for much of this season. Appearing in two games this season, Griffin has seven total tackles.

Reed II, 25, was a sixth-round pick by the Seahawks in the 2023 NFL Draft. He's made appearances for the team in 18 games over the past three seasons. So far in 2025, he's played in three games, recording two total tackles.

Although injuries to the secondary have been a common theme this season, Seattle will be getting back Riq Woolen after the four-year veteran missed Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a concussion.
