One of the biggest mysteries surrounding the New England Patriots season centers on the situation with rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson. The 22-year-old running back rushed the ball 43 times for 153 yards over the past seven games. Unfortunately, his rushing attempts dropped recently, as he carried the ball twice for five yards during the team’s 31-13 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. At this point in the season, many people expected Henderson to play a larger role in New England’s running game. Boston Sports Journal’s Patriots writer Greg A. Bedard doesn’t think the coaches trust him. “The coaches do not have confidence in TreVeyon Henderson,” Bedard said on Sunday, via Patriots on CLNS. “And that’s not gonna change till they see it on the practice field.” After backup running back Antonio Gibson suffered a season-ending torn ACL in Week 5, many expected Henderson to step up and take on a more significant role.
