The Los Angeles Chargers waived the linebacker to activate Khalil Mack off the injured reserve before Sunday’s Week 7 game. Murphy had played all of the Chargers’ prior six games in 2025, collecting 12 tackles, a quarterback hit and a half sack. He played three games with Tennessee that season and two more before getting waived last October. The Michigan native has 17 tackles in 14 career NFL games. Murphy had played just 35 snaps on defense in 2023 and 2024 before logging 164 (and 118 on special teams) this season.
