The Raiders faced a 31–0 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7 of the 2025 NFL season. Moreover, their offense didn’t perform as expected. As the head coach hopes to look for a solution to the crisis, an NFLexecutive shares his serious stance by assessing the Raiders’ performance this season.
“The Raiders, if they can’t run the ball, it’s just brutal. They were hard to watch even when they beat Tennessee.”

The Raiders could complete 25 yards on 11 carries against the Chiefs. The pro running back Ashton Jeanty was incredible this season. But still struggles with 21 yards on six carries, showing the team’s setback in maintaining a consistent ground game.
Moreover, Geno Smith felt pressure from the Chiefs’ defense, leading to rushed throws and limited yardage. And his performance was further hampered without its key receivers, making it very difficult to carry on the passing.
What seems like an added fuel, injuries have further intensified the situation. Moreover, the team doesn’t have their tight end by their side. Brock Bowers and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers failed due to injuries. Their absence left the offense without their best players, diminishing the potential of the passing attack.
Plus the offense failed to save Smith and create running lanes. As a result, Smith was sacked and hurried, disrupting the timing of the offense.
Offensive coordinator Chip Kelly’s play calling needs adaptability. The Red Army has easily calculated the Raiders’ moves, making it easier to defend against them and limiting the offense’s effectiveness.
Head coach Pete Carrollsaid:
“This was a game that I didn’t see coming. They’re a terrific team; they did everything that they do, and they played really well in all phases and kept us totally at bay. We couldn’t make a first down and couldn’t get off the field.”
As the fans look for a better offensive setup, they keep wondering what new the team could bring to the table. Keep an eye out for more such exciting stories.
