Broncos star suspended for threatening referee

The Denver Broncos made one of the most unlikely comebacks in NFL history when it scored 33 points in the fourth quarter to overcome the New York Giants after starting the quarter down 0-19.

However, while Denver left with a win, it’s going to be without one of its crucial pieces due to suspension, according to one prominent league insider.

“Per the NFL: Broncos linebacker Dre Greenlaw has been suspended without pay for one game for unsportsmanlike conduct following Sunday’s game against the New York Giants,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.

Schefter followed up with more details on the siuation.

“After the conclusion of the Giants-Broncos game, the NFL said Dre Greenlaw chased after referee Brad Allen and verbally threatened him as he tried to leave the field.”

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Ref shoved Justin Strnad which must have pushed Dre over the edge. Allen has a terrible track record as a Ref,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“I love Broncos fans complaining like every single one of their big plays didn’t come off of Dexter/Burns/Kayvon/Abdul getting strangled and there being no call,” someone else added.

“Which one of the 97 calls/noncalls that went against Denver, was it? The 900 holds on NYG OL not called? The 899 false starts on their RT not called? The phantom roughing the QB that extended the game? Phantom PI late? Throwing a flag on Payton for calling them out? Which flag?” another fan wanted to know.

Hopefully, Greenlaw learns his lesson.
