'I could've played' - O'Hara slams 'worst West Ham team ever' after 'disgusting' defeat

Jamie O'Hara has slammed West Ham for their performance in their 2-0 defeat to Brentford on Monday night.

The Hammers extended their winless streak to five games with a result that the former Tottenham midfielder branded 'disgusting'.

Nuno Espirito's side allowed Brentford to have 15 shots at goal in just the first half, as they were barraged with attack after attack.

The Bees managed to take advantage of that domination thanks to Igor Thiago, who tucked past Alphonse Areola.

Mathias Jensen wrapped things up in the final seconds of the game with West Ham failing to threaten at all throughout.

It leaves the Hammers second from bottom in the Premier League table, losing six of their opening eight fixtures this season.

Graham Potter, who was confirmed as Sweden manager on Monday, was sacked at the end of September due to the poor start.

But Nuno is still waiting for his first win, having drawn to Everton and now lost to Brentford in his two games.

And after being beaten in his first home match in charge, O'Hara took aim at his team and their performance.

He said on talkSPORT's Sports Bar: "What am I watching? They are one of the worst teams I've ever seen in the Premier League.

"This has got to be probably the worst West Ham side I've seen in the Premier League."

"I've played in charity games at West Ham, mate, honestly, I could have played tonight," O'Hara went on to add. I could have played tonight.

"You watch my highlights from the charity game when I played there about three months ago, that was Jordan Henderson.

"Like literally, no one's near him. He can do what he wants. Any player can just sit there and string a ball about and look good, but there's no one tackling you.

"I couldn't believe what I was watching."

'Sleepwalking into the Championship'

O'Hara's co-host on talkSPORT, ex-Chelsea defender Jason Cundy, also took aim at West Ham for their defeat on Monday.

In a brutal assessment, Cunday said: "They are terrible. You said disgusting, that performance was shameful. Absolutely shameful.

"There are basics right, there are prerequisites when you go onto a football field of desire, fight, that doesn't need coaching.

"Everything you should have when you go and step on the field, mate, none of it.

"They were pussycats and I don't want to take anything away from Brentford because Brentford were good and credit to them.. but that is unacceptable.

"That was disgusting. Toothless, gutless, spineless, no fight.

"They're sleepwalking into the Championship now, from this moment forward.

"I can't believe how bad they are. From a home team in the Premier League - nothing, there was nothing there.

"Sometimes you can come away and you might say they were lucky because Brentford on another day they go two or three up at half time."

Nuno's take

The Hammers boss gave an honest performance from the defeat at the London Stadium, although he wasn't as opinionated as O'Hara and Cundy.

Nuno told Sky Sports: "Today was a disappointing evening because it was a disappointing performance. It was not good enough.

"I think we had a good spell. In the first 15/20 minutes we had a good spell and there's a chance and then after that we got ourselves in trouble. Brentford were aggressive."

The Hammers manager then continued to discuss the empty seat and discontent from fans at their woeful start to the season.

"I honestly believe that our fans are concerned more than anything," Nuno added. "The silence is about being concerned of the situation. They are concerned and we can feel it.

"That feeling passes to the players and transforms themselves to anxiety... so it's a mix of everything that in the end on the pitch with the players becomes harder.

"Now, it's fair enough to say that we have to be the ones to pull the fans together."
