Rockets' starters vs. Thunder have more starts for OKC than the actual Oklahoma City starters

Oklahoma City Thunder, meet the... OKC Thunder?

The Houston Rockets gained a lot of notice for announcing a gigantic starting lineup for Tuesday's season opener against the Thunder.

But there's another fascinating subplot.

The wonderfully named X account Steven Adams Stats shared this:

"Rockets starters on opening night have more combined career starts for OKC (1,239) than OKC’s starting lineup (1,092)."

That's thanks to the combination of Kevin Durant and Steven Adams.

Since the Thunder are just so young, they haven't accumulated the starts yet.

It doesn't mean anything, other than just a fun crossover.

The Rockets weren't necessarily expected to start Adams. They could've opted for Reed Sheppard, the second-year guard.

But with Fred VanVleet out for the year, the Rockets opted to go tall and let Adams start alongside fellow center Alperen Sengun.

Sengun, Amen Thompson and Jabari Smith Jr. have only ever played for the Rockets. Adams and Durant take care of this stat by themselves.

If nothing else, these faces will look very familiar to Thunder fans.
