Report: Marc-André ter Stegen unsure if he’ll ink new deal with FC Barcelona

The future might just be now for Marc-André ter Stegen at FC Barcelona.

Per [Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg](https://x.com/Plettigoal/status/1979072578787410055), Ter Stegen is unsure if he will stay in Catalonia as he could face an uphill battle getting regular playing time, which could hurt his chances to make the 2026 World Cup squad for Germany:

> 🚨🆕 Marc-André ter Stegen has not yet made a decision on whether he will stay at FC Barcelona over the winter or move elsewhere. A transfer is no longer ruled out, despite other reports.

>

> A final decision is still pending. If he stays, he risks ending up on the bench under Flick/Deco/Laporta. However, he needs to be playing if he wants to go to the World Cup. His contract runs until 2028. Still a top-class keeper.

In the past, Ter Stegen has been rumored to be on Bayern Munich’s radar, which would be fortuitous timing if Manuel Neuer was to retire. However, it would almost be shocking at this point if Neuer was to step away given his strong form.

Bayern Munich is starting to really hit the rough-and-tumble portion of its first half schedule and _Der Klassiker_ is at the forefront of it all.

Sure, Bayern Munich passed its test against Eintracht Frankfurt before the last international break, but Bundesliga matches against Bayer Leverkusen and SC Freiburg, Champions League games vs. Club Brugge, Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal, plus a DFB-Pokal tilt vs. FC Köln all are on tap before the end of November.

In a nutshell, buckle up.
