The Denver Broncos finally got Dre Greenlaw on the field for this season and they have already lost him. But rather than an injury, Greenlaw has been suspended by the league for an altercation with an official at the conclusion of the team's wild 33-32 win over the New York Giants.
The Broncos face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8 and if the suspension holds up, will be without Greenlaw. Though having Greenlaw in the lineup is a good thing, this is what the Broncos brought Greenlaw onto the roster to do. No, not to get suspended, but to bring a certain attitude to the defense.

Getting in the face of an official is never something that should be encouraged, but the defensive pass interference call against Riley Moss was that bad. If fans are not going to blame Sean Payton for getting in the face of the referee directly after the play, which drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penatly, they should keep that same energy when it comes to Greenlaw.
The Broncos have already played six games without Greenlaw this season. Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad can handle the duties against the Cowboys, but good on Greenlaw for letting those officials know how bad that call was. Boos from the crowd, as deafening as they may be, only go so far.
For Jaxson Dart to be able to throw up a prayer toward the end zone, hoping to get bailed out by the exact call he got, was ridiculous. Payton and Greenlaw let the referees know it.
However, that may not have even been what Greenlaw was reacting to. Take a look at this tweet from CBS reporter Romi Bean, showing that the official may have first shoved Strnad out of the way. If Greenlaw was in fact reacting to that, then he should have the support of every fan in Broncos Country.
These are the kinds of players you want on your team, the kinds of players you want in the locker room. Greenlaw may need to find a way to channel some of his energy in a different way, but he's bringing the right attitude and the right outlook to this football team.

He will be out for one more game but he made six tackles in his debut in Denver and he will see an even bigger role and make an even bigger impact as this season goes on.
