Former Michigan All-American to come out of retirement to join Super Bowl champs

Former Michigan defensive lineman Brandon Graham is coming out of retirement to rejoin the defending Super Bowl champions.

According to multiple reports Monday night, the 37-year-old is finalizing a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles to rejoin the franchise he spent his entire 15-year career. In a video posted to social media, Graham teased a special announcement on his podcast “Unblocked” at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Philadelphia’s depth at edge has been thinning since the start of the season, prompting Graham’s return to the field. The 2010 first-round pick suffered a torn triceps muscle in Week 11 of last season but returned for the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

He retired after the season and finished his career with 487 tackles and 76 ½ sacks in 206 games, the most in Eagles history. The Detroit native will have a chance to add to those numbers the rest of 2025 for a depth-deprived defense line.

Philadelphia (5-2) only has 11 sacks this season. Defensive end Za’Darius Smith suddenly retired last week, while edges Nolan Smith Jr. and Ogbo Okoronkwo are currently on injured reserve.

Graham is a two-time Super Bowl champion, helping the Eagles close out the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII with a strip-sack of Tom Brady.

He was a captain and All-American as a senior at Michigan in 2009 and finished his college career with 29 1/5 sacks, including double digits each of his final two seasons.
