DETROIT — Coming off a rough loss on the road to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Detroit Lions responded with a resounding victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday night to topple the Bucs off the top spot in the NFC.
The Lions (5-2) were led by a career performance from running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who totaled 218 all-purpose yards and a pair of touchdowns in the 24-9 victory.
Helping to push Detroit to keep its three-year streak of not losing consecutive games alive was a banged-up defense playing without numerous top options in the secondary. The unit came up with two turnovers and held Tampa Bay to its lowest point total of the season.
