Manchester City's manager, Pep Guardiola, has expressed his condolences to Stuart Pearce and his family following the tragic death of Pearce's son.

Harley Pearce, aged 21, was killed in a tractor accident on the A417 Old Birdlip Hill in Witcombe, Gloucestershire on Thursday, October 16. The young man, who was driving the tractor at the time of the incident, was described by his devastated father Stuart and the rest of his family as "a cherished son and devoted brother".

During a press conference in Spain, Guardiola stated: "I know there are no words for this huge tragedy but our deepest love to him and his family."

Stuart had a strong connection with Manchester City, having made 38 appearances for the club between 2001 and 2002, before later becoming their manager after his notable stint at Nottingham Forest concluded.

City, who are playing Villarreal in Spain tonight in the Champions League, also expressed their sympathy. The club tweeted: "Everyone at Manchester City sends their love and thoughts to Stuart and his family at this very difficult time."

Harley, a resident of Marlborough, Wiltshire, died at the crash site, which reportedly happened when a tyre blow-out caused the tractor to veer off the road.

Gloucestershire Police confirmed that emergency services were called to the scene around 2.30pm on Thursday last week.

In a statement released by the police, the Pearce family expressed their grief: "Our family is truly shocked and utterly heartbroken at the loss of our cherished son and devoted brother, Harley.

"A soul who left an unforgettable imprint on all who knew him. He was a golden boy with an infectious smile, and this shocking tragedy will leave a huge hole in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
