Report: Whether Dave Fallows will have more power than Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley at Chelsea

Former Liverpool director of scouting and recruitment Dave Fallows is set to join Chelsea.

It has been widely reported that Fallows, who left Liverpool last October, is close to taking up a senior leadership role at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea already have several figures on their recruitment team, including co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley.

The recruitment at Fallows’ former club has come under real scrutiny in recent days amid their struggles on the pitch. Liverpool spent over £240m in the summer but are currently on a run of four consecutive defeats in all competitions.

Dave Fallows set to report to Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley

Fallows is expected to have a very important role at Chelsea. According to The Standard, he will have a say on recruitment of players, coaches and staff.

However, the same outlet claims that Fallows will report directly to Stewart and Winstanley, so he will not have a higher position than Chelsea’s two sporting directors.

The jury is still out on many of the signings that Stewart and Winstanley made during the summer.

The Blues brought in both Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens, for example, but neither player has set Stamford Bridge alight.

Arsenal legend Alan Smith recently questioned Chelsea’s decision to sign Gittens, describing it as a “strange move”.

Dave Fallows built one of the greatest attacks in Premier League history

Regardless of what position Fallows has at Chelsea, Blues supporters will want his voice to be heard.

At Liverpool, he helped the Reds to construct one of the most dangerous attacks that the Premier League has ever seen.

It is believed that Fallows played a key role in Liverpool signing Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Salah is not in the best of form right now, but the Egyptian and Mane will go down as two of the greatest attackers in Premier League history.

Hopefully Fallows can find the next Salah or Mane for Chelsea, who already have a good forward line.
