Danny Rohl is the man who has been chosen to lead Rangers into their new era.

Rohl was confirmed as the new Rangers manager on 20 October after a search that took several twists and turns.

The 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh were under huge pressure to get the appointment right after missing out on both Steven Gerrard and Kevin Muscat.

Ibrox chiefs have been reassured that they have made the right selection to get their team back on track after the disastrous Russell Martin era.

Enzo Maresca comparison made after Danny Rohl appointment at Rangers

Rohl made a spectacular U-turn to become Rangers manager, but his experience in the Championship has led to comparisons to Martin.

MORE RANGERS STORIES

BBC Sheffield journalist Rob Staton believes that those comparisons are nonsense, and used Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca as a better example, for why Gers supporters should be excited about Rohl, backing him for success in G51.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, he said: “Rohl is nothing like Russell Martin.

“They are very different managers, I think it’s a little bit lazy that people are making that comparison.

“Enzo Maresca’s primary experience in management was in the Championship before he won the Conference League and World Club Cup in his first year at Chelsea.

“Rohl prefers an attacking, aggressive style. He’s always very adaptable, and will make tactical decisions based around specific opponents and players available to him.

“He did as good a job as any manager I’ve covered making changes at HT to change games at Wednesday.

“Also, many people don’t realise the situation he walked into at Wednesday. He created a miracle, and then improved in year two, he is ideally suited to this challenge.”

Rohl can be the man to turn Rangers around

Staton’s verdict will be an encouraging one for Light Blues fans, especially the idea that the challenge facing him in Govan is right down his street.

The fact that he has managed in a difficult situation before and is willing to change his tactical approach, as opposed to Martin, who was wedded to his system, is a relief.

The idea that he will play front-footed football, which is the style that the Gers should be playing, and is willing to make substitutions early, should also have supporters looking ahead to the Rohl era.
