Leeds United fans were watching on Monday night as Brentford went to the London Stadium and tore apart West Ham United to win 2-0 when in truth, Brentford could have scored three or four.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s first home game as West Ham manager came in the form of a clash against Keith Andrews’ Brentford, a game The Hammers were favourites to win. But West Ham were easily beaten.
Goals from Igor Thiago and Matias Jensen got the job done for Brentford on Monday night, and for West Ham, Nuno’s men have just three days to prepare for a trip to Elland Road. Leeds are in the same boat.
Leeds will be feeling low after being beaten by Burnley at Turf Moor. The Whites produced 19 efforts at goal and 17 inside the box but still suffered a 2-0 loss, leaving Alan Shearer shocked in his analysis.
Jarrod Bowen makes West Ham dressing room confession
As West Ham captain, Bowen stood in front of the cameras on Monday night following another defeat for his side. It leaves West Ham in 19th place in the Premier League with just four points from eight games.
Leeds are in a slightly better position, now in 16th with eight points after Brentford leapfrogged Daniel Farke’s men. Bowen admitted West Ham confidence is low in the dressing room, on West Ham’s website.
“Ultimately, confidence comes from winning games, having good performances. We haven’t done that this season. That’s going to be low. We’ve got to do is trust what we’ve got in the changing room.

“We can’t be fearful in this league because if you’re fearful in this league, you’re going to lose games. I feel like that’s what we’re doing. We’ve got to rally together and take every challenge head-on.”

West Ham have an excellent recent record v Leeds since 2020
There was an eight-year gap between Leeds and West Ham doing battle, until Marcelo Bielsa guided Leeds to promotion in 2020. Since promotion, Leeds and West Ham have met seven times.
West Ham have won five of those seven games, which will come as a worry to Leeds supporters. Leeds have only beaten West Ham once in the last five years, which saw Jack Harrison score a hat-trick.
