Los Angeles Lakers All-NBA power forward LeBron James' relationship with former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate Kendrick Perkins has had its ups and downs.

While chatting with NBA insider Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson, Perkins supplied a status update on where they stand.

James unfollowed Perkins on Instagram, and when asked if they had ever discussed where things went south, Perkins doled out some harsh truths.

Latest on LeBron James' icy relationship with Kendrick Perkins

"I haven’t, you know what I’m sayin’? Me and him are both bullheaded, right?" Perkins said. "Like, we are both men, you know what I mean? I’m not sayin’ if we cross paths it’s gonna be some blows or some disrespectful words — it might get us back on talking terms. As of today? Naw. I’m not reaching out to him. He damn sure ain’t reaching out to me, and guess what? He’s not losing sleep at night and I’m not losing none either!"

When asked whether James would ever return to the Cleveland — where he played next to Perkins in 2014-15 and for one game in 2017-18 — Perkins offered up a diplomatic response.

"He’s unpredictable, bro. You just never know. I see LeBron James retiring as a Laker, but you just never know what he has in the pipeline. Would it surprise me if his last stint was in Cleveland? No," Perkins said. "But he’s unpredictable, so I don’t know. And again, it ain’t like he did a contract extension, you know what I’m sayin’? So we don’t know. That’s the beauty about it though."

James is currently on an expiring $52.6 million contract with Los Angeles, after failing to come to terms on any kind of extension this summer. Perkins, for one thing, doesn't think James is necessarily looking to play beyond his current contract.

"But I will say the one thing that I will do is appreciate this year from LeBron James because, like he said, he ain’t waitin’ on Bryce — so that tells me that he ain’t got too many more years left and we ain’t got too much of LeBron," Perkins said.
