Arsenal will host Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday, with Mikel Arteta's side facing an early test of their European credentials. It will also see Arsenal's formidable defence try to keep someone who could have been a team-mate of theirs quiet. Former Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez is loving life again in Madrid, but he could have swapped the capital of Spain for that of England earlier this year.
Alvarez was one of several strikers tentatively linked with a move to Arsenal during the first half of 2025, with Arteta eventually settling on Viktor Gyokeres as his new No.9. Even despite their early-season success, some Gunners fans aren't totally convinced by the Swede and are wondering how much better they could be doing with a different forward up top.
