Keith Andrews came in for praise following Brentford's 2-0 victory over West Ham on Monday night. A strike just before half-time from Igor Thiago and a late second from Mathias Jensen gave the Bees victory at the London Stadium.

It was a first away win of the season for Brentford, who could have won by a lot more, with Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher keeping his second Premier League clean sheet of the season. The Corkman joined the West London club from Liverpool in a deal that could rise to almost €21million during the summer.

Former Wolves manager Gary O'Neill praised Andrews following the game, saying on Sky Sports: "He's showing he's very, very capable of the job he's been given."

Brentford registered 22 shots compared to West Ham's seven, with the only shock being that it took 43 minutes to break the deadlock.

The opener arrived thanks to Maximilian Kilman's woeful attempt to deal with a straightforward ball over the top, allowing Kevin Schade to steal in behind and tee up Thiago.

Hammers goalkeeper Alphonse Areola managed to get a touch to his strike but the ball spun clear and found the far corner.

Thiago, sidelined for much of last season with injury, thought he had doubled the lead before the interval, only for VAR to chalk off his effort for offside.

Both Thiago and Schade struck the frame of the goal before Brentford eventually sealed victory in added time when Keane Lewis-Potter pulled the ball back for substitute Jensen to blast into the roof of the net.

"Very pleased," said Andrews. "We approached the game really well. I had a good feeling the last few days, the vibe, the energy around the place. I thought we produced a really good performance.

"Ultimately you want that second goal to be more comfortable but I felt we controlled it in the main. It was the most complete performance of the season, for sure."
