Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma City Thunder (2007-2016)

The Seattle SuperSonics took Kevin Durant with the second overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.

Durant's first professional season in the Pacific Northwest was a hit, as he was named Rookie of the Year with averages of 20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. After Durant's rookie season, the franchise moved to Oklahoma City and rebranded to the Thunder.

By Durant's third season in the NBA, he won the first of four scoring titles in a Thunder uniform. He led the franchise to the NBA Finals in his fifth NBA season and was named league MVP in his seventh season.

Durant's ninth and final season with the franchise saw them build a 3-1 series lead in the Western Conference Finals before losing the series to the 73-win Warriors.

Golden State Warriors (2016-19)

Durant elected to sign with the Warriors as a free agent in 2016. It is one of the most notable decisions in sports history, as Golden State won 73 games, fell one win shy of an NBA title and had eliminated Oklahoma City from the playoffs months prior.

The basketball fit was unquestioned, and Durant immediately made his impact on the Warriors, who are viewed as one of the best NBA teams ever assembled.

Durant and the Warriors won a championship in each of his first two seasons with the franchise, defeating the Cavaliers in five games in 2017 and sweeping them in 2018. They returned to the 2019 NBA Finals to face the Toronto Raptors, but Durant was sidelined for the first four games of the series with a calf injury.

In Game 5, Durant returned to the floor, and, after a ripping start, ruptured his Achilles tendon. That play proved to be Durant's final moment with the Warriors.

Brooklyn Nets (2019-2023)

Durant joined the Nets via sign-and-trade in 2019 with the understanding that he would sit out the 2019-20 season to rehab from his Achilles injury.

After the pandemic-impacted season finished in October, Durant made his Brooklyn debut in the 2020-21 season. Despite injuries to running mates Kyrie Irving and James Harden, Durant had the Nets a few plays away from the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals.

However successful, Durant was plagued by nagging injuries throughout his Brooklyn tenure. Less than four years after joining the franchise, Durant's name swirled in trade rumors, and he was ultimately a part of an in-season trade for the first time in his career.

Phoenix Suns (2023-25)

Late in the 2022-23 season, Durant was traded to Phoenix to join Deandre Ayton, Devin Booker and Chris Paul on a Suns team that was less than two years removed from an NBA Finals appearance.

Durant's Phoenix debut was delayed by injuries, but the team posted an 8-0 record in the eight regular-season games he was active for.

The Suns were eliminated in the 2023 Western Conference semifinals and began making shakeups that offseason. Durant's first full season in Phoenix ended with a first-round sweep at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Things went from bad to worse in 2024-25, as the Suns missed the playoffs altogether and Durant was mentioned in trade rumors ahead of the deadline. He wasn't moved, but those rumors signaled that the end was near.

Houston Rockets (2025-Present)

As the offseason got underway, Phoenix dealt Durant to Houston as part of one of the biggest trades in NBA history.

Once news of the trade surfaced, Durant had this message for Suns fans: "They wanted me to go, so I'm glad they got what they wanted, and I got what I wanted. We can move on."

Days before the 2025-26 season, Durant agreed to a two-year, $90 million contract extension to remain with the Rockets. The deal has a player option for the 2027-28 season.
