Confirmed: Nottingham Forest appoint Sean Dyche as key contract details emerge

Nottingham Forest have appointed Sean Dyche as their new boss after owner Evangelos Marinakis moved quickly to replace the sacked Ange Postecoglou in the City Ground dugout, with GIVEMESPORT sources revealing that talks initially began during the international break before advancing following the defeat to Chelsea last weekend.

The Tricky Trees were condemned to a 3-0 loss on Saturday, resulting in the Midlands side remaining without a victory since overcoming Brentford on the opening day of the campaign, and they will have a fresh face in the hot-seat when they take on Portuguese giants Porto in the Europa League on Thursday.

Dyche Officially Unveiled as Postecoglou's Successor

Dyche has been unveiled as Nottingham Forest's new boss, which comes after GMS senior reporter Fabrizio Romano confirmed that a verbal agreement had been reached on a deal until June 2027 when negotiations took place behind the scenes, and he has been tasked with steering the side away from the Premier League's relegation zone.

The 54-year-old tactician has been on the market since being sacked by domestic counterparts Everton in January and, having been handed the opportunity to succeed Postecoglou, he has already become the Tricky Trees' third chief of the campaign as Nuno Espirito Santo was also dismissed by Marinakis in September.

GMS sources understand that Dyche was only prepared to take the Nottingham Forest job if he was handed a long-term contract, with him having no interest in assuming the role until the end of the season, and conversations began during the international break before escalating in the aftermath of the defeat to Chelsea last weekend.

The one-time Championship title-winner has arrived at the City Ground with a wealth of top flight managerial experience, having also bossed Burnley before his tenure at Everton, but his first assignment in the dugout will be going head-to-head with Primeira Liga giants Porto in the Europa League on Thursday.

Dyche will include Nottingham Forest icons Ian Woan and Steve Stone as members of his backroom staff, while GMS sources have been informed that his preferred style of play is seen internally as a strong fit for the squad he has inherited from Postecoglou.

Influential figures behind the scenes still have a strong belief that the Tricky Trees can secure European qualification this term, despite currently finding themselves in the Premier League's bottom three, and that is why it was felt that a quick change needed to be made at the helm.

Marinakis originally made contact with Dyche in a bid to discover whether he would be interested in taking charge of Nottingham Forest, but GMS sources have been told that global head of football Edu and global technical director George Syrianos led the appointment process after Postecoglou's exit was finalised.
