Ex-Burnley boss Sean Dyche take charge of Premier League rivals

Former Burnley boss Sean Dyche is back in the Premier League after taking charge of Nottingham Forest.

Dyche succeeds Ange Postecoglou, who only lasted 39 days in the hotseat at the City Ground.

Forest find themselves 18th in the table - two points behind the Clarets - and haven't won since the opening day.

Dyche has been out of work since leaving Everton in January. He initially kept the Toffees in the division despite their poitns deductions but failed to kick on last term.

Ian Woan and Steve Stone - who were part of Dyche's backroom staff at Turf Moor - will work under the 54-year-old again at the City Ground.

"A respected and experienced Premier League manager, Dyche brings the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen and proven achievement to guide the club through its next chapter," [said a Forest statement](https://www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/news/2025/october/21/sean-dyche-appointed-forest-head-coach/?ref=ed_direct).

"As a former Forest youth player who lives locally, Dyche also has a deep understanding of the values and pride of Forest and its supporters.

"His appointment represents the best opportunity for a successful and competitive season across both domestic and European competitions."

Dyche's first game in charge is against Porto in the Europa League on Thursday night. His first league fixture is a trip to Bournemouth three days later.

Burnley head to the City Ground on April 18. The points were shared when the sides met at Turf Moor a month ago, with Jaidon Anthony cancelling out Neco Williams' early opener.
