It's good to have 88 back on the field.
After waiting on the sidelines for three games due to a high-ankle sprain suffered in a loss to the Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys superstar receiver CeeDee Lamb finally returned to action in Week 7. In his absence, George Pickens was one of the most dominant receivers in the NFL.
But Lamb was quick to re-establish himself as Dak Prescott's top pass catcher. With an incredible performance in a win over the Washington Commanders, he reminded fans exactly how good he is.
CeeDee Lamb leads esplosive Cowboys performance in return from injury
Pickens was electric as the Cowboys' top wide receiver. His explosive performances were enough to make him a candidate for a huge contract extension after the season.
In three games without Lamb on the field, he totaled over 350 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He made Jerry Jones look like a genius for trading for him. Even without their top wideout, the Cowboys had one of the best offenses in football. His breakout stretch had some fans claiming that he and Lamb were co-owners of the top receiver spot in Dallas.
It didn't take long for Prescott's long-time favorite to dispel those rumors. Lamb finished the day with five catches for 110 yards and a touchdown. Early in the game, he had a 74-yard touchdown to put Dallas up by two scores. From the slot position, he split the middle of the field, catching Prescott's deep ball and taking it all the way to the house.

Throughout the game, he was able to beat the Commanders' defensive backs on quick out routes and hitch routes, taking advantage of their fear of giving up another explosive play. Prescott threw the ball his way eight times on the day, making it obvious to Cowboys fans who the top target in this offense is.
Pickens had an impressive performance too, carrying his stretch of elite play through another week. He had four catches on six targets for 82 yards. With Washington's defense focused on Lamb, he was able to consistently get one-on-one looks.
This game was an excellent reminder of just how well Dallas' top two wideouts fit together. Pickens thrives in his "X receiver" role, lining up on the outside of formations and making contested catches near the sideline. Meanwhile, Lamb is elite in the slot and being moved all around the line of scrimmage, using his quickness and feel for zone coverage to consistently find open space.
Cowboys fans are rightfully thrilled to have the duo back on the field together. This offense should score 30 points in its sleep every week now that Lamb is back healthy.
