Everton fans won't believe where Oumar Niasse is now playing his football

Everton paid Lokomotiv Moscow around £13.5m for Oumar Niasse’s signature in January 2016.

Roberto Martinez was the manager at the time and Everton had ambitions of pushing up the league towards the European spots.

However, Oumar Niasse’s career on Merseyside never really got going as he scored just nine goals in 42 appearances.

Niasse retired in January 2024 after a brief spell at Macclesfield, but now he’s been spotted playing for a different non-league club.

Oumar Niasse spotted playing for Wythenshawe FC

Niasse has been spotted playing for Manchester-based club Wythenshawe FC, and he’s actually been playing alongside former Newcastle United frontman Papiss Cisse.

Maynor Figueroa, who played over 200 times in the Premier League, was also named in the same starting line-up.

Wythenshawe, who play in the ninth tier of English football, thumped Collegiate Old Boys 6-2, with Cisse netting all six.

Darren Gibson was seen playing for Wythenshawe earlier this month, so clearly lots of former professionals are enjoying their football there.

Oumar Niasse was once banished from Everton’s dressing room

Back in October 2016, then Everton manager Ronald Koeman banished Niasse from his first-team dressing room after trying to sell him in the summer.

“I’m in the dressing-room with the under-23s but I don’t have a locker,” Niasse told the Guardian.

“The other players have where they put their stuff but I don’t. I come with my bag and I just have a place I know. I put my bag down, I train and after, I put everything in my car and go home.”

Niasse added: “It’s sad, it’s really sad. And, to be honest, I think I don’t deserve this but what I can do is just keep my head and fight to change things. I’m not going to make a drama over this. I just deal with it. I know it’s just one period.”

The Senegal international ended up joining Hull City on a loan deal in January 2017, where he scored five goals in 19 games.
