(Opinion) Crystal Palace given boost over Oliver Glasner contract situation as announcement…

Crystal Palace fans could potentially be witnessing the final season under Oliver Glasner this term.

The man from Salzburg sees his contract expire in July, and despite Sky Sports claiming positive talks have taken place with Steve Parish, it remains to be seen what happens as his stock rises.

Manchester United admire Glasner – but Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keeping faith with Ruben Amorim until at least July 2027.

Bayern Munich also like Oliver Glasner – but Crystal Palace fans have now received welcome news as Vincent Kompany signs a new deal at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich commit to the future with Vincent Kompany

The German giants announced earlier on Tuesday that the Belgian has penned a contract extension, taking his time in Munich up to July 2029.

Kompany has excelled in the dugout so far this season, steering Bayern Munich to 11 wins from 11 games across all competitions.

Glasner was linked to Bayern Munich – with Alan Nixon claiming the Austrian dreams of managing the German giants – although it can be considered a positive for Crystal Palace that no vacancy looks likely to pop up anytime soon.

As aforesaid, Ratcliffe has also publicly declared that Amorim will get to – at least – see out his contract, which runs until July 2027.

Therefore, the options for Glasner are running out, if the 51-year-old does have plans to leave Crystal Palace at the end of the current campaign.

Steve Parish still needs to wrap up an agreement as soon as possible

While the current managerial climate bodes well for the Eagles, a lot can change in football, and fast.

For example, reigning Premier League champion Arne Slot is currently on a run of four games without a win at Liverpool, so a vacancy could soon arise at Anfield.

Furthermore, Nottingham Forest have already employed three different managers this season in Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and now Sean Dyche, another example of how quickly the landscape moves in football.

Our new Director of Football Matt Hobbs hopes to have a new deal arranged for Glasner before January begins, and it feels like a wise time to start concrete discussions with few other options out there right now.
